
Neuro -affirming – accepting and respecting the natural differences in how people’s brains work, especially the way individuals think, feel, and behave. Monotropism is when someone has very focused attention on a small number of interests or things at a time. Autistic people often concentrate deeply on one or two favorite things, which can cause them to miss other information or signals around them. Their attention works like a tunnel, very narrow but intense, unlike most people who spread their attention across many things at once.
